Solar high intensity approach light DWS801AH, side view with solar panel

High Intensity Solar Approach Lighting

Solar approach light DWS801AH and Sequenced Flashing Light DWS801AHF are specially designed as solar-powered high intensity approach lights for Precision Instrument Runways (CAT I, II, III). They have unidirectional optics with an average intensity exceeding 20,000cd, as shown in the Intertek Photometric Test Report.

Solar sequenced flashing lights DWS801AHF are solar-powered approach flashers synchronized to flash in sequence, starting with the light farthest from the runway and ending with the one closest to the runway threshold. They appear to the pilot as a ball of light traveling towards the runway at high speed (once or twice a second), provide visual guidance for all landing categories, and easily integrate into various approach lighting system configurations.

Solar Approach Lighting System

The solar Approach Lighting System (ALS) is a solar-powered lighting system installed on the approach end of an airport runway, consisting of a series of lightbars and/or flashers that extend outward from the runway end.

An ALS usually serves runways that have an instrument approach procedure (IAP), and allows the pilot to visually identify the runway environment and align the aircraft with the runway.

Solar HALSF

The solar HALSF is a high-intensity solar-powered approach lighting system with Sequenced Flashing Lights, installed at Bayelsa International Airport, Nigeria in 2024. The HALSF consists of a combination of High Intensity Threshold Lights, Approach Lights and Flashers that give the pilot visual information on runway alignment, height perception, roll guidance, and horizontal references to support the visual portion of an instrument approach.

Solar SALS

The solar Simple Approach Lighting System (SALS) is designed to guide aircraft during their approach to the runway. The solar SALS shown was installed at Shenmu General Airport, China in 2023, and consists of a row of solar red lights along the extended centerline of the runway, with additional red lights forming a 30m crossbar 300m from the runway threshold.
